At this point, I have already tried an empanada when we were swimming at Cabugao Beach. But my uncle told me that Irene's Empanada is the queen of Empanadas in Vigan. So before heading to Baguio, we stopped by Irene's Empada to taste her version of Vigan's favorite snack!

Irene's Empnada |
They also have Vigan's famous Longganisa and Bagnet but we came for the EMPANADA! So step down, Longganisa and Bagnet!

Making Empanada from scratch |
They make their own Empanada from scratch! Here are two ladies making and stuffing the yummy Empanada shell with the yummy Empanada filling!

Empanada |
Then the Empanada came! ALL HAIL THE QUEEN'S GOODIES! This is what I've been waiting for! I've been craving for Empanada ever since I tasted my first one at the beach. Their Empanada is very different from the empanada that I know off in Manila. Most empanadas here in the city have thick skins and bland stuffing. The Empanada in Vigan looks like a large deep-fried dumpling!

Special Empanada (45 Php) |
The skin was crispy and the filling was so YUMMY! You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients that they put in the Empanada! The second one that I had had a half-cooked egg, so the egg yolk burst into my mouth! Uuuuuh! Oooooh! You also dip the whole empanada in vinegar for the extra kick!

Shrimp Okoy |
Okoy is a dish that is deep-friend with tiny bits of something! This one had tiny bits of shrimp in it! It was really crunchy and it fit well with the vinegar! However, the Empanada really beats the Okoy in terms of flavor.
Overall, my empanada experience with Irene's was phenomenal. I started to really miss Irene's Empanada when I got home. Really, it was that good!
Eat them!
