Forest House in Baguio City

My mom LOVES Forest House. My mom always made sure that we would drop by in Forest House whenever we went to Baguio. The restaurant has a homey feeling and their decor and ambiance are great pluses as well.

Appetizer
Their free appetizer looked and tasted like flat biscuits. It wasn't really exceptional but we ate it anyway since we were so hungry! The place was packed even at 9pm since it was Easter's Eve.

Pumpkin Soup (85 Php)
Pumpkin soup is my little sister's absolute favorite! The soup was very pumpkin-y and did not taste too fatty and creamy. You could taste the yumminess and fullness of the flavor of the pumpkin with every spoonful of this soup.

Forest House Bouillabaisse (95 Php)
Personally, I didn't know what a bouillabaisse (that was hard!) was but I gave it a try just to be different. It tasted like seafood chowder! It was very creamy although the taste of the seafood was not as full as I expected it to be. I also wasn't able to see a lot of seafood inside the soup.

Forest House Chef's Salad (235 Php)
We ordered this one because it looked like the 'special' salad. Pretty basic salad with chicken, ham and eggs. We chose their vinaigrette over thousand island dressing! It was a plain salad. Nothing much to say about this one. I think they should work on the flavor of their vinaigrette to give more life to the salad.

3 Mini Burgers with Fries (185 Php)
This was the order of my little sister! It tasted like ordinary burgers but they looked really cute. It was a kiddie meal so I'm guessing that they made this one to please the younger eaters out there.

Wanton Lasagna with Quarter Chicken (260 Php)
This one was big, for a kiddie meal. My little cousin ordered this one! It was really cheesy and rich in terms of flavor. But, it's comparable with the lasagnas that we have here in Manila.

Twin Pork Chops with Apple Sauce (275 Php)
I was looking for something different in the menu so I stumbled on this one! Since I love apples, I tried pork chops with apple sauce. The apple sauce was sweet and yummy! However, the pork chop was a turn off because they were really hard. I didn't have time to complain because I was so hungry by that time so I tried to enjoy the softer parts as much as possible.

Sesame Crusted Fish Fillet (245 Php)
I SHOULD have ordered this one! My grandma ordered this fish dish so I didn't want to exchange my pork chops because she would not be able to eat them. Anyway, their cream dory fillets were amazing and the salsa was perfect! It was YUMMY! If you decide to be healthy and order seafood in Forest House, please order this dish. Thank you.

Korean Beef Ribs (295 Php)
One of my aunts ordered this dish. I did not have the chance to taste the dish, so, sorry for me (and you). But I guess this dish was as ordinary as the salad since it didn't look unique and exciting.

Beef Tenderloin Steak in Shrimp Vodka Sauce (565 Php)
Wanna know my mistake in Forest House? NOT ORDERING this dish for myself. My sister was even hesitant to order this at first because she told me that it had 'vodka' in the sauce (hehe!) and the price was a little steep. But I told her that it was okay since we were celebrating Easter Sunday in advance anyway. The beef tenderloin was juicy! The shrimp vodka sauce was to die for! It was rich and it gave the beef tenderloin a really nice pat in the back. This is the perfect dish of Forest House! Please don't ever forget to eat this one when you go to Forest House (and don't mind the price, for the love of food).

Black and White Torte
Since I'm the only hardcore eater in our family, I ordered dessert for myself. Hello there black and white torte! This baby tasted like choco mousse with a shot of steroids. Its taste was fuller and creamier! It had a nice amount of dark chocolate in it as well so you will definitely taste the contrast of the sweetness and bitterness of the chocolates! Try this one out! Yummy :)

Try to reserve a seat in advance especially in weekends since the place will most likely get packed.

Eat them!

Oh how I miss Forest House in Baguio. I ate there only once about 3 years ago and I can still remember how good the food was. It was really a great experience, good food plus homey ambiance. :)
